Ron Franz- he is an old man in his eighties who was deeply inspired by Chris (or Alex as he knew him) McCandless' life story and advice. He grew up as a leatherworker but was lonely due to the death of his son and wife in a car accident. Because of his loneliness, Ron was a drinker. Ron had moved where McCandless had once lived when they had become close. He became an atheist soon after McCandless' death because he thought that God had kept Chris/Alex, this special man, from achieving his future dreams and staying alive.
Gail Borah- a woman in her thirties who was Wayne Westerberg's girlfriend. She had been divorced and had two kids. She had also become very close to Chris McCandless just like Wayne had after first meeting him.
Mary Westerberg- Wayne's mother who was encouraged by Wayne's deep description of Chris to meet this man who was inspirational in everything he talked about. She fell in love with Chris' ways and motives of being different after having him over for dinner.
